Four killed, 4 hurt in three mishaps

Three persons, including a child, were killed and three women sustained serious injuries in two different road mishaps last night.

In the first incident, Rakesh Kumar (37), a resident of Phagwara, and his four-year-old son, Vansh, were killed on the spot, while his wife Indu, sister-in-law Reena, and niece Srishti, sustained serious injuries when their car (PB-36F-5643) dashed against a tree near  Jagjitpur village on the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road. The victims were returning from Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh.

The mishap took place when they  felt asleep and the driver lost control over the vehicle. The injured were admitted to DMC, Ludhiana. 

In the second incident, one motorcyclist, identified as Kapil Dev, a resident of Santokhpura locality, was killed on the spot when his bike was hit by a speeding truck near Kirpalpur Colony on the Phagwara-Nakodar road.

Youth killed, another hurt Garhshankar (Hoshiarpur):

Gaurabh, an 18-year-old student of Class XII, was killed and his friend Pankaj was seriously injured in an accident at Nainwa village today.

The mishap took place when the two were on their way to attend a marriage party.

Gaurabh, son of Santokh Singh, a resident of Mahindwani village, along with Pankaj, son of Lakhvir Singh, a resident of Mazara Dhingarian, was going to attend the party in a car borrowed from a friend. Onlookers said they were coming at a high speed near the village. Suddenly, the car went out of control and collided with the boundary wall of a farm. The car was badly smashed in the collision. The police have registered a case.
