Croma, electronics retailer from the Tata Group, has become the first store in the city to offer e-waste disposal facility to residents.

Addressing the media here at its store in Lajpat Nagar, Ritesh Ghosal, CMO, Croma, said, “Electronic waste is one of the emerging problems in many nations worldwide. It comprises of a multitude of components with valuable materials, some containing toxic substances that can have an adverse impact on human health and the environment. Therefore, offering people the e-waste disposal facility at their doorstep would not only benefit customers as they will be paid back for their waste, it will also assure recycling of the product without harming the environment.”

He said as the consumer shopping behaviour had changed fundamentally with the proliferation of mobile, internet and e-commerce, today shoppers are digitally influenced and informed because of the research they do online.

Thus, the retail electronic units operating in the city have to bring something unique to attract customers.

Meanwhile, talking about the e-waste disposal, Mayank Sangani, head of operations, Croma, said, “We have our recycling centre based in Delhi. The Croma store is currently operating in more than 25 cities. We have the e-waste pick-up on call service that allows customers to just call at the customer care number to request an e-waste pick-up from their doorstep.” — OC
