Family identifies burnt body of woman

The family of the deceased woman, whose body was found burnt at the surgical complex here on Wednesday morning, today identified her.

The deceased was identified as Kavita, a resident of Deep Nagar, who was married and had a two-year-old boy as well. The family identified her from her footwear after her photograph, along with the Punjabi Jutti lying nearby, was published in various newspapers.

According to her brother, Kavita was allegedly having an affair with a Phillaur-based man following which she left her husband and began to stay with her parents in Deep Nagar.

The man followed her here as well and even took her out around four days ago. Since then, Kavita was missing. As earlier also, she eloped with the man, but the family did not lodge a complaint with police.

The police have begun to search for the accused and have lodged an FIR in the case.
