Jalandhar, June 13

The staff of Piyar Bus Service, owned by the kin of ex-Congress MLA Jasbir Dimpa, reportedly manhandled the contractor of the bus stand at the PAP Chowk here this morning.

Kulwinder Ghumman, who has received the contract for collection of adda fee at the bus stand, alleged, “The company had been operating its buses from the PAP Chowk instead of the bus stand. Ever since we got the contract for collecting the adda fee, we approached the company staff to pay us the amount but they have been consistently avoiding us. Since we have the rights to collect the adda fee from the bus operators from any point in Jalandhar, we asked the bus staff to make us the payment at the PAP Chowk itself.

“At this, the company immediately called in some 30 armed men and attempted to manhandle us. We then put barricades in front of their two buses that had queued up there. The traffic police arrived. The manager of the company was called in from Beas and a compromise was reached. They assured to pay us the requisite fee from now onwards”.

While Dimpa could not be contacted, the manager of Piyar bus company, Ravideep Singh said, “The matter has been sorted out. There were just one or two conductors who had been avoiding the payment. They have been told not to do this again.”
