Dengue larvae detected in buckets, water tubs

JALANDHAR: Continuing its drive against vector-borne diseases in the city, a joint team of the Health Department and Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar (MCJ), detected 30 dengue larvae cases and issued four challans in various localities of the city.

Continuing its drive against vector-borne diseases in the city, a joint team of the Health Department and Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar (MCJ), detected 30 dengue larvae cases and issued four challans in various localities of the city.

Six teams of anti-larvae wing, led by Rajan Kumar, Sarbjeet, Raj Kumar, Sukhjinder Singh, Gain Chand, Piyara Lal, and others, carried out the inspection at Bhagat Singh Colony, Kabir Nagar, Hardial Nagar and Raj Nagar.

The teams covered a population of 1,387, visited 324 houses and checked 92 air coolers, 83 waste containers, and six abandoned lying tyres. The teams also carried out spray in 289 rooms. Team members detected larvae in buckets, water tubs and bottles.

They interacted with residents and asked them to refrain from storing water in containers and air coolers, as it could act as a breeding ground for mosquitoes which were the carriers of diseases like dengue, malaria, among others.
