Dengue larvae detected at 12 places

JALANDHAR: Continuing its drive to check vulnerable places in the district under ‘Tandarust Punjab mission’, the anti-larvae wing of the Health Department on Thursday detected cases of 12 dengue larvae in various localities.

Continuing its drive to check vulnerable places in the district under ‘Tandarust Punjab mission’, the anti-larvae wing of the Health Department on Thursday detected cases of 12 dengue larvae in various localities. Four teams of the anti-larva cell led by Gurvinder Sahota, Harjit Kumar, Raj Kumar and Gurvinder Bajwa undertook inspection in various localities of Buta Mandi, Football Chowk to Jhandiya Wala Peer road and surroundings.

During the inspections conducted on directions of the Civil Surgeon Dr Jaspreet Kaur Sekhon, Dr Satish Kumar and in charge of anti-larva cell Sukhjinder Singh, the team visited 144 houses, inspected 54 waste containers, three tyres and 55 air coolers. The team detected dengue larvae at 12 places, all from desert coolers.

The team also held interaction with people and made them aware that these places could act as a breeding ground for mosquitoes to spread diseases like Dengue, Malaria and others. They said the drive was aimed at identifying vulnerable places for producing the larvae of mosquitoes. They said the special inspection was a part of the drive under the ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’ to ensure that vector-borne diseases were checked well in advance.
