A pall of gloom descended in the town and people thronged to the house of Harneik Talwar at Adarsh Nagar to offer their condolences. Talwar, a property dealer, lost his wife Harjot Kaur, daughter Alsee and son Pahul in a tragic road accident near PAP Chowk on late Sunday night. The pyres were lit at the crematorium on Monday afternoon. Talwar’s daughter was doing a course in architecture in Chandigarh while his son was studying in Class XII class at Cambridge School. The family was returning to Phagwara after having dinner at a Jalandhar restaurant. Harneik also sustained injuries in the tragic accident.

Vehicle stolen

A motorcycle of a Ludhiana resident, Neeraj Kumar, was found stolen outside the renowned Haweli on Sunday night as he went for a meal. The police have registered a case under Section 379 of the IPC.

Illicit liquor seized

The police arrested a local resident, Rangeela Singh, and recovered 42 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession on Sunday night. The accused was running a confectionary shop, but was also involved in drug trade. —OC
