The craze of going abroad among students in Punjab is widely known. To present this reality on big screen, director Devi Dutt is coming up with a new movie ‘Jatt vs IELTS’, which is a story of a boy who wants to go abroad hook or by crook.

The star cast of Jatt vs IELTS was in Jalandhar for the promotion of their movie at an IELTS centre in Mota S Nagar. The movie is set to hit the screens on June 22.

Ravneet Singh will mark his debut with the film, alongside veteran comedy artist Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi. Khushi Malhotra, born and brought up in Jalandhar, will be seen as the leading female artiste.

Deep Sehgal, Hobby Dhaliwal, Anita Devgan, Khyali, Sukhbir Batth, Naveen Walia, Mandeep Ghai and Jaswant Mintu will also be seen in pivotal roles. Malvinder Sandhu, Palmit Sandhu and Navdeep Bhinder are the producers of the project.

Ravneet Singh shared his excitement, “I always wanted to be an actor. Since my childhood, I made sure that I participate in every school and college function. Even being an anchor was a stepping stone for me to reach my goal. Now, as I am doing my first film, my excitement has no knows no bounds today. I have given my best to this film.”

Khushi Malhotra, the leading female star of the film, said, “This is just my second film but I’m so happy that I’m a part of this concept. Being a Punjabi, it is very common to hear that someone among your relatives or neighbours is clearing IELTS and going abroad. The concept has been treated so differently in the film. I wish the film touches the right chord of the audience’s heart.”

Director Devi Dutt, said directing and writing a concept so close to real life is quite difficult because the chances of conflict and misinterpretation are high. When I came to Punjab, I came across this concept of IELTS and the craze it has here. It was then that I decided I’ll surely make a film on it but at the same time, I didn’t want to make a serious movie. So I added comedy in it. I’m sure people are going to love it.”

“These days, Punjabi cinema is going through its golden period as many movies are being made on a daily basis. Some of these are extremely different, some are clichéd and people do not even remember them. So, choosing a film that is close to real life and appeals to the public is not at all an easy task, but when we came across Jatt vs IELTS, we found every ingredient of a good film in it. We immediately invested in it without any second thought as we believed that it will strike the roght chord,” said the producers of the film.
