Jalandhar, December 13

BJP leader Sheetal Angural today lodged a complaint with the Punjab Election Commission and the police commissioner against Sunita Rinku, Congress candidate from ward 42 and wife of Jalandhar (West) MLA Sushil Rinku, for an alleged violation of the norms.

He has alleged that she has taken a private Gypsy bearing number PB 13-X-8213 and made it look like a pilot vehicle in which blue and red beacon have been fixed along with a hooter. He said that she has been using the vehicle in her election campaign to showcase her power.

Angural, who has been Rinku’s rival for years, has alleged that this had been done with a motive to threaten the people by showing the vehicle for casting votes in their favour. Attaching three pictures of Sunita standing in the open Gypsy, the BJP leader has mentioned, “This is a clear violation of election rules and is also a crime under the IPC. Also a gunman of the Punjab Police who has been provided for the MLA for security has been driving the vehicle everyday,” he said.

This uniformed cop too is seen in pictures put up in the complaint by Angural.

Rinku, when contacted, did not deny allegations but said that Angural has always had a problem with him. “When people have no issues with my wife using such a vehicle, what is his problem?” Regarding gunman, he said, “In some rare times, there can be an emergency and use of gunman for driving too becomes a requirement. I don’t think that should be a problem.”
