College girl dies in accident

In an accident that occurred on the Chandigarh-Hoshiarpur road, near Khabran village, a car driver, who was allegedly drunk, hit a scooter and a motorcycle.

The scooter rider succumbed to her injuries on her way to a hospital, while the motorcyclist and another women who was accompanying him, sustained serious injuries.

According to information, Harmesh Lal, a resident of Jeevanpur Gujran village, said he had bought a scooter today for his daughter Harmanpreet Kaur (19), who was studying in a college. She was riding the scooter for the first time.

He was following her on his motorcycle. When they reached near Khabra village, a car that was going from Garhshankar to Satnaur hit her and she fell on the road. After that, the speeding car also hit a motorcycle that was coming from the opposite direction. The biker, Amandeep of Ganna village, in Phillaur, and his relative Paramjit Kaur of Selkiana, were seriously injured. They were taken to the Civil Hospital, Garhshankar, in a critical condition. Doctors declared Harmanpreet brought dead. The car and the bike were badly damaged in the accident. — OC
