Jalandhar: An activity, ‘Coffee with Grandparents’ was conducted at Delhi Public School for the students of Class III. It was the part of an Enviromental Studies (EVS) under the topic ‘Family history’. Grandparents of some children were invited to the school and the students asked some questions from their grandparents over a cup of coffee. Children were curious to know about their childhood experiences, life without phones in those days and about nuclear and joint families. Grandparents advised the children to spend minimal time on mobile phones and lead a disciplined life. In charge principal Ritu Kaul and coordinator Ramandeep Kaur thanked the grandparents and presented  saplings to them. The principal advised the students to spend more time with their parents and grandparents. TNS

Merit positions 

Jalandhar: Sandeep Kaur of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, bagged the first position in the university exams of Master in Tourism Management (Sem III), with 507/ 600 marks. Ankita Sareen bagged the third position with 474/600. This was communicated to media in a press note issued by the principal of the College Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra. Sardarni Balbir Kaur, president of the college governing council, congratulated the students for achieving the distinction and wished them success in life. TNS

World Heritage Day 

Jalandhar: Innocent Hearts School—Green Model Town, Loharan, Cantt — Jandiala Road and Royal World School celebrated World Heritage Day. A number of activities were organised on the occasion. A PowerPoint presentation was shown to students on historical monuments. They were explained that the monuments were a rich heritage of the country. It is our duty to preserve and conserve our heritage. Information about freedom fighters was shared with students. The students of Class IX and Class X made collages of historical monuments. A movie ‘Victory of India’ and ‘History of India’, depicting the struggle of freedom fighters was shown to students. TNS
