City-based child artiste Arjun Singh Vij, a class VII student of Innocent Hearts School, has made the city proud by featuring in the Star Plus reality show, Great Indian Laughter Challenge, a popular stand-up comedy show being judged by actor Akshay Kumar, which began being aired from September 30 every weekend. Arjun was among the top 20 contestants, who were selected for the final rounds. “After striving hard, giving tough competition to other participants from all over India, he managed to secure his position till top 20. As he fumbled in his link in the final round, he could not achieve to register his name in the top 15 list,” said Arjun’s mother Monika Vij.

Produced by Endemol, the show is based on a format where stand-up comedians and performers entertain judges and the studio audience with their comedy skills. “I enjoy every bit of my time when I am in front of the camera. The experience at the auditions, the chance to perform on such a big platform has added another feather to my cap. I have learned a lot from other participants who were of my age or some even younger to me. I am not disappointed at all, instead I will work even harder to achieve success,” he added.

An all-rounder, Arjun is passionate about acting and has been a national-level gold medallist in dance and acting. He earlier auditioned for India’s best “Dramebaaz” and “Sabse Bada Kalakar” and was selected too. His experience there gave him confidence to face the camera. Arjun has also worked in single-track albums of Punjabi singers A Kay, Kulwinder Billa, Mehtab Virk and Harman Virk. Currently, Arjun is busy shooting for his upcoming film “Chauhan” starring Jimmy Shergill in the lead role. He will be seen playing the childhood character of Jimmy Shergill’s best friend in the movie.
