Cholera outbreak in Hoshiarpur village

In Bichohi village of Hoshiarpur, 119 suspected cases of cholera, diarrhoea and dysentery have been reported in 24 hours. Meanwhile, the suspected death of a five-year-old girl is also believed to have been caused by cholera. She was suffering from vomiting and diarrhoea for the last 5-6 days and the family members. They took her to the Civil Hospital where her condition became critical, and doctors declared her brought dead.

On Sunday, a team of doctors reached the village and held a survey where they identified and provided treatment to those found suffering from diarrhoea.

As many as 119 people were found suffering from vomiting as well as diarrhoea in the village, out of which eight were admitted in the hospital due to serious condition. District Epidemiologist Dr Shailesh, told The Tribune that samples of the suspected cholera victims were sent for investigation, out of which 4 cases of cholera and 2 cases of dysentery have been confirmed. Reports are awaited for the rest of patients.
