Jalandhar, October 2

A woman was today found dead under mysterious circumstances in a house of an NRI in the posh area Model Town.

The deceased has been identified as Prisa (63). She was the caretaker of the house and was otherwise a native of Bombay. Retired engineer RS Arneja said she was a caretaker of the house and from the last two days, she was not seen in the locality. "Yesterday, he had sent the guard to inquire about the woman but she did not open the door. Today area residents complained of some foul smell emanating from the house. They informed me and accordingly I informed the police," said Arneja adding that when the police entered the house and started searching for the woman, they found her lying unconscious in a bathroom. Initially the residents were suspecting foul play behind the woman's death but later when the police searched the house, they came to a conclusion that it was a natural death.  SHO of Model Town Nirmal Singh said it seems that she died due to cardiac arrest and accordingly the inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPc were initiated.—TNS
