Jalandhar, February 15

In a strange incident, two men approached Congress MLA Sushil Rinku and requested him to get their address changed on their Aadhaar cards. Suspecting something suspicious, the MLA asked for their identity proofs, following which they slipped away from the place quietly.

However, showing alertness, the MLA informed the police about the men and even sent his own men behind them.

When arrested, the two men were found to be part of a gang that used to steal and sell cars with fake number plates. The police also recovered two stolen cars from them. The accused were identified as Sangram Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Shagandeep Singh and Abhilaksh. Following their arrest, the police interrogated them and also arrested four more accused, including Joban Singh, Vikramjit Singh, Sarabjit Singh and Talwinder Singh, in the matter.

The accused had over a dozen other criminal cases registered against them. Police Commissioner Praveen Sinha said the gang seemed to be part of a bigger network which, he claimed, would be soon busted by his team.
