Jalandhar, December 9

The Department of Social Security and Women and Child Development today organised a seminar at Mahatama Hansraj DAV Institute of Nursing on female foeticide and dwindling sex ratio in the district.

KD Bhandari, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, along with RL Bassan, Civil Surgeon, graced the occasion.

Bhandari said although the government was making efforts to curb the deadly menace in the state, it would not bear any fruits till the time youths decide to change their perception and play a decisive role in the movement against female foeticide.

Bassan said the District Health Department was keeping a stict vigil on scanning centres and regularly conducted surprise checks.

“The district has managed to fill the void between the female sex ratio to male,” he added.

A thought-provoking skit on female foeticide was played by nursing students.

Bhandari awarded students who excelled in academics and painting competition.
