Nakodar: The Nakodar police have booked three members of a family for allegedly assaulting panchayat members and trying to encroach upon panchayat land. The suspects have been identified as Charanjit Singh of Uggi village, and his brothers Surindar Singh and Mauri. Jawahar Lal, sarpanch, Uggi village, approached the police and said the suspects had encroached upon panchayat land by installing a kiosk on November 5. He said when the panchayat members objected to it, the suspects attacked them and used abusive language. Paramjit Singh, incharge of the Uggi police post, said, “A cases under Sections 323, 447and 511 and 34 of the IPC has been registered against the suspects. A cross-case has also been registered in this connection.” OC

2 held with stolen household items

Phagwara: The police on Friday arrested two persons with stolen household items. The suspects have been identified as Rocky and Kasis, residents of Uttar Pradesh, who were residing in Pehchan Nagar. Onkar Singh Brar, SHO, Satnampura police station, said the suspects were arrested after an accused arrested under the NDPS Act, identified as Sahil Parvesh, revealed their names. OC
