Vehicles challaned for noise pollution

JALANDHAR: A joint team of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and the traffic police, challaned two heavy vehicles and a Royal Enfield motorcycle for using multitone horns/pressure horns and cracker sound-emitting silencers.

JALANDHAR: A joint team of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and the traffic police, challaned two heavy vehicles and a Royal Enfield motorcycle for using multitone horns/pressure horns and cracker sound-emitting silencers. The joint team, comprising JEE Varun Kumar, along with a team of traffic police, led by ASI Harpreet Singh, checked 20 heavy vehicles and seven Royal Enfield motorcycles at Pathankot Chowk. The team challaned two heavy vehicles and a motorcycle for violating the noise pollution rules. Violators would be issued show-cause notices. TNS

Speech competition

Phagwara: A speech competition was organised to  motivate girl students to choose science subjects to mark the International Science Day for Women at the DAV College here on Tuesday. A large number of students attended the event. Principal Kiranjeet Randhawa, while addressing the students, said:  “Girls at the school level should be motivated to opt science subjects. Girls must compete with their male counterparts in the field of science.” OC 

Mobile snatched

Phagwara: Some unidentified motorcyclists snatched a mobile phone from Seema Rani here on Tuesday.  The miscreants managed to flee. The police have registered a case under Section 379-B of the IPC in this regard. OC
