Jalandhar, June 26
The CPI (ML) New Democracy held a protest march against the BJP-led Central government today.
Members of the party gathered at Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall before they took out a procession, which culminated at Press Club Chowk.
Addressing the gathering leaders said 42 years ago the country suffered black days of Emergency declared by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Meanwhile, BJP-led Centre government parented by the RSS had created an emergency like situation to make India a ‘Hindu Nation’, they added.
“To achieve the same purpose the BJP has been trying to stifle the voice of its political opponent and the people, who have been struggling,” leaders said. They added that apart from this the voice and rights of minority communities, including Dalits and Muslims, Communists, intellectual and journalists, were also being suppressed.
Leaders said the BJP had been propagating jingoistic nationalism to divert the public from real issues. Those who addressed the gathering, include Comrade Ajmer Singh, Comrade Kulwinder Singh Waraich and Comrade Ramesh Rana. — TNS
