Taking a dig at the newly launched Sanjhi Rasoi project by the state government, the district unit of the BJP today claimed it to be a futile effort and termed it a mere publicity stunt.

District BJP president Ramesh Sharma said the project did not hold any meaning as many street vendors in the city were already offering such meals at Rs 10 at various places in the city. Sharma also shared a picture of a street vendor selling a thali at Rs 10 near Sheetla Mandir.

Sharma also slammed MP Chaudhary Santokh for giving credit to the Punjab government. “Majority of the support is being provided by social welfare organisations and city residents. Where is the contribution of the state government?” Sharma said.

He said the government should rather motivate people like street vendors who were already offering such affordable meals to the people. The BJP also slammed the district administration for offering a VIP menu on the day of launch and later changing items in the menu from ‘puri’ to ‘chapatti’. Leaders said the VIPs should also be served the same menu that would be served daily to the common man.
