Bhangra to go global, team gears up to set Guinness World Records

JALANDHAR: The World Bhangra Association team is all geared up to break the Guinness World Record as bhangra dancers from all over the world will be performing at the same time on the same platform.

The World Bhangra Association team is all geared up to break the Guinness World Record as bhangra dancers from all over the world will be performing at the same time on the same platform.

The attempt to create a new Bhangra Vishwa Record will be initiated on 1st november this year at Lovely Professional University. Previously, this attempt was taken on 10th August 2012, when the event was organised by Sant Nirankari Mission at Sant Nirankari Mandal in the West Midlands. However, they failed to make the world record.

Golden stars UK head Tarlochan Singh Bilgha, who is also the chief coordinator of the event, said this time the event that was organised to promote Punjabi culture and its folk dance would be conducted in Punjab. And if accomplished, the record would surpass the 2011 Guinness World Record when 2,100 people performed bhangra in 10 minutes.

Golden stars UK head Tarlochan Singh Bilgha, who is also the chief coordinator of the event, said this time the event that was organised to promote Punjabi culture.

He said, bhangra lovers from all over the world were expected to participate in the event and the "Dhol King Gurcharan" would be the centre of attraction.
