Shaheed Bishan Singh School sail into semis

JALANDHAR: Shaheed Bishan Singh School, Delhi, entered into the semifinals of the 15th All India Balwant Singh Kapur Hockey Tournament for Mata Parkash Kaur Cup (U-19) at Surjit Hockey Stadium, here today, by beating Government Model School, Mohali, 3-2.

Shaheed Bishan Singh School, Delhi, entered into the semifinals of the 15th All India Balwant Singh Kapur Hockey Tournament for Mata Parkash Kaur Cup (U-19) at Surjit Hockey Stadium, here today, by beating Government Model School, Mohali, 3-2.

In other matches Government Model School, Jalandhar, get the better of Indira Priyadarshani School, Bhopal 4-2 and BRC Danapur trounced Malwa Khalsa School, Ludhiana 4-1.

In the first match Mohali boys gave a tough fight to the Delhi team. At half time, Mohali was leading 2-1.

In the second half Delhi boys bounced back and won the match 3-2. For Delhi, Sahil Aryan and Sahil Kumar, scored the goals.

For Mohali, Parteek Singh scored in the 5th and 30th minute of the match.

In the second match, Government Model School, Jalandhar, beat Indira Priyadarshani School, Bhopal. At half time both teams were locked at 1-1. In the second half, Jalandhar boys dominated. For Jalandhar, Surdarshan Singh, Gurpal and Ranjot scored the goals.

For Bhopal, Akshey Dubey and Harshdeep scored in the 39th minute (4-2).

In the third match BRC Danapur beat Malwa Khalsa School, Ludhiana, 4-1. For BRC, Sajan scored the hat-trick. He scored in the 25th, 28th and 32nd minute of play. Johnson Purty scored in the 16th minute and for Ludhiana, Harjit Singh scored in 24th minute (4-1).

On Thursday, matches will be played between Sri Guru Teg Bahadur School, Baba Bakala; and Mata Gujri School, Shahbad; GMS, Jalandhar, and Government Senior Seconday School, Mithapur; Khalsa College Senior Secondary School, Amritsar; and Malwa Khalsa School, Ludhiana.
