Jalandhar: Manav Sehyog School celebrated ‘Baisakhi Fair — Mela Punjabiyan Da’. The festival of harvest was celebrated to acquaint students with cultural heritage. The school was decked with phulkaaris, charkha, chajj, pakhi, chatti and madhani. Stalls of different food items were put up. A cultural programme was presented by students of Class X, VIII and IV. The event was started by invoking the blessings by chanting ‘Shabad’. Students, along with their parents, relished Punjabi sweets. Principal Rajni Sharma advised students to plant more trees.

GNA University

The premises of GNA University wore a festive look with the compound decorated with items depicting the heritage of Punjab. GNA University celebrated Baisakhi and the audience witnessed the Live coke studio concert with Sharry Maan and a live band performance by Hail Revolution. The ambience of the university showcased the harvest season with cut-outs of farmers, phulkaris and balloons all around. Students came dressed in traditional Punjabi colourful outfits. A cultural programme was also presented by students. Dressed in typical folk attire, the students also danced to the tunes of Bhangra. S Gurdeep Singh Sihra, pro chancellor, GNA University said, Baisakhi was not only a harvest festival but also an auspicious day as on this day Guru Gobind Singh had established the “Khalsa Panth”.

Guru Amar Dass Public School

Under president Ajit Singh Sethi and all committee members ‘Khalsa Sajna Divas’ and Baisakhi were celebrated at the Guru Amar Dass Public School, Model Town, Jalandhar . The programme started with a shabad ‘Khalsa Mero Roop Hai Khaas’ by students. The students also presented their views and recited poems on ‘Khalsa Sajna’ and ‘International Dastar Divas’. Students with colourful turbans participated in modelling. Principal Manpreet Kaur Bhogal congratulated students on the occasion. President Ajit Singh Sethi and the committee members honoured students who had tied beautiful turbans with prizes.

MGN Public School

MGN Public School, Adarsh Nagar, Jalandhar celebrated Baisakhi. Students of senior wing, primary wing and rainbow wing looked vibrant in colourful cultural Punjabi dresses. The cultural and religious importance of Baisakhi was beautifully brought out through speeches and Bhangra performances by students. The students danced on the beats of music and enjoyed the day.
