A 32-year-old Bangladeshi woman meets a Punjabi boy in New York. She falls in love and gets married to him. The couple spend four years in pure bliss. Meanwhile, the boy gets the green card. He begins to fight with her daily and one day leaves her in the lurch. And the woman then comes to Punjab in search of her love!

Thirty two-year-old Sonia Kabir, who hails from Bangladesh, and is now a citizen of the US, fell in love with a Punjabi boy Satnam Singh in the US and married him. After four years of conjugal life, Satnam got a green card. His behaviour thereafter changed and tiffs between them became common. Finally, he left her in the lurch, making him come looking for him to Punjab.

Interacting with the media at the Press Club today, Sonia said she met Satnam, who hails from Kapurthala in New York, around four years ago. She even converted from Islam to Sikhism and was rechristened as Sonia Singh. She got married to Satnam on September 6, 2012 at a local court in the US. But immediately after receiving the green card in 2016, Satnam began to harass Sonia and put pressure on her to leave him.

When she refused, Satnam ran away from home a few months ago and is now untraceable. Earlier, Sonia searched for him in the US but could not locate him. She recently got an Indian visa for five years and came to Punjab to find his lost love.

Sonia said she loves him and has not come with the intention to put him behind the bars or to initiate any legal action. She only wants to ask him as to why he had ditched him and what can be done to revive their marriage.
