Student organisation cell of Lovely Professional University organised a two-day inter-university arts and crafts exhibition. Various prestigious world records holder iron nail-artist and inventor Wajid Khan was invited to interact with young artists. Over 1,000 LPU students from the departments of fine arts, animation, architecture, fashion, film production and journalism attended guest lecture delivered by him. Analysing over 800 art works of students, Wajid forwarded important pieces of advice to the budding artists. Winning students also got prizes, gift hampers and certificates with the signatures of Wajid Khan.

Farewell accorded

The PG Department of Computer Science and IT, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, organised a farewell party for the outgoing students of BSc (IT). Different activities such as folk group dance, bhangra, moudling and songs were performed by students. Amanpreet Singh and Kajal were adjudged the Mr and Miss BSc (IT). Varinderpal Singh Bal adjudged the Mr Handsome and Narinder Kaur adjudged the Miss Charming. Principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra presided over the function. Prof Manohar Singh, Head, Department of Computer Science and IT congratulated and motivated the students and wished them success for their bright future. Staff members of computer science department were also present on the occasion.

Baisakhi celebrated

Sanskriti KMV School marking the harvest festival Baisakhi, gave the message of sowing the seeds of quality education, reaping it with dedication, morals and ethos, and finally harvesting the nation’s assets. Decorated campus wove the strings of punjabi virsa, students dressed up in folk attire, presented the floats of Punjabi culture. With the elaborate presentation of cultural heritage, traditional, craft and wear, children made the most of the day by dancing on the beats of dhol and enjoying a ‘tonga’ ride. At this joyous moment, Chander Mohan, president, Sanskriti KMV School, also joined the students, parents and the teachers. Rachna Monga, principal, with note of Baisakhi wishes and affection for children, mentioned that school is the second family for the children for the lifetime learning.

Job fair 

After the success of its previous edition, district administration, Jalandhar, in collaboration with IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, CT Group of Institutions, Jalandhar, Jalandhar Chamber of Industries and Commerce and District Bureau of Employment Generation and Training organised a “Job Fair 2016 (Spark 4)” for engineering, computer application, pharmaceutical sciences, management and polytechnic and graduate students today at CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur Campus.—TNS
