In a major move towards streamlining of issuances of driving licence besides spreading awareness regarding traffic safety and management, the Jalandhar district has led the state by launching of m-DTO application on Friday.

He said, “This mobile-based application will provide services of the DTO office.”

Moreover, the app also shows the list of violations and penalties related to traffic and place from where the challan could be cleared. This app would also provide availability of special vehicle numbers and their auction time.

To make the people aware of traffic rules, signs and symbols along with do`s and dont’s in traffic, the mobile app has been enriched with all kind of legal and administrative information. This app has also mock tests where a person can take a test of 10 questions at a time regarding traffic rules.

Yadav said, “The most important aspect of this initiative was to save people from the malpractices while buying a second-hand vehicle. The app also shows the details of license and registration which can be attained by just entering the registration and chassis number of vehicle. The vehicle and owner data are integrated in the app.”

The emergency contacts are also featured in the app. Traffic alerts will inform the commuter about the traffic jams in the city. To add more services in the app, the district administration has also included the location of sewa kendras, hospitals and petrol pumps.
