All set for sarpanches’ oath-taking ceremony

The stage is set for a district-level function to administer the oath of office to newly elected members of panchayats, panchayat samitis and the zila parishads at the New Grain Market, Nakodar, near here, tomorrow.

Officers of the district administration, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal, today gave final touches to the arrangements for the mega event, which would be presided over by state Education Minister OP Soni.

Jorwal said all arrangements for the event had been made to ensure that the event would be a huge success.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner said for the facilitation of the elected representatives coming for taking the oath, earmarking of separate blocks had been done.

He said all members of the zila parishad and panchayat samiti from the district would be seated in one block whereas those from panchayats would be seated in different blocks earmarked by the authorities.

Jorwal said officers had been directed to make sure that their staff perform their duties efficiently for the smooth conduct of the event.

Superintendent of Police Gurmeet Singh, SDMs Paramvir Singh, Amit Kumar Panchal, Sanjiv Sharma and Navneet Kaur Bal, Assistant Commissioner Himanshu Jain, DSP Parminder Singh, District Development and Panchayat Officer Ajay Kumar, Tehsildars Aaditya Gupta, KS Bhullar and Inderdev Singh Minhas were among those others present. — TNS
