The district administration handed over the final voter lists for the Lok Sabha/Vidhan Sabha Assembly segments, prepared after a special summary revision, to representatives of various political parties.

Handing over the lists to representatives of various political parties, the Election Tehsildar Raj Kumar Tangri said the lists had been prepared by the Election Commission of India (ECI) after a thorough process carried out minutely in the district.

He said these lists were available with the District Election Office, office of the EROs and even with the booth level officers at the respective polling booths. Tangri said these lists could also be seen on website ceopunjab.nic.in.

To facilitate people to get themselves enrolled as voters for participating in the democratic process more enthusiastically, the ECI had announced the schedule for the special summary revision of the photo electoral roll for the Lok Sabha/Vidhan Sabha Assembly segments for the left-out eligible voters. Under Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma, the district administration had carried out this work.

The claims and objections for the draft publication of the rolls were received between November 15 and December 15 at the polling booths concerned or the offices of the registration officers and assistant registration officers.

Likewise, on November 19 and November 26 (both Sundays), special camps for booth-level agents of political parties were organised for receiving their claims and objections. As per the instructions of the ECI, the booth level officers (BLOs) conducted a door-to-door survey of the voters from November 15 to December 15 for enabling more and more number to get registered as voters.
