Jalandhar, June 19

Continuing its drive to check noise pollution in the district under the “Tandarust Punjab Mission”, a joint team of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and traffic police, Jalandhar, on Tuesday issued challans to eight vehicles and motorcycles for using multi-tone horns/pressure horns and cracker sound emitting silencer.

A team comprising environmental engineers and traffic cops checked around 35 vehicles, including heavy vehicles and motor cycles, at the Rama Mandi Chowk.

On the occasion, a heavy vehicle and seven Royal Enfield Bullet motor cycles were issued challans for the violation of noise pollution rules.

The team appealed to the owners of heavy and light vehicles to stop using pressure horns in their vehicles as these cause a lot of noise pollution. They said strict action would be taken against the erring vehicles owners who were found violating the laws.
