39 candidates’ papers Xrejected

JALANDHAR: The candidature of 39 candidates was rejected today during the scrutiny of the nomination papers of 689 candidates who have filed papers for the elections of the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ) and for the municipal committees of Bhogpur and Goraya, besides nagar panchayats of Nurmahal and Shahkot.

The candidature of 39 candidates was rejected today during the scrutiny of the nomination papers of 689 candidates who have filed papers for the elections of the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ) and for the municipal committees of Bhogpur and Goraya, besides nagar panchayats of Nurmahal and Shahkot.

A spokesperson of the office of the Chief Electoral Officer Jalandhar said out of the 434 applications received for the MCJ, 13 were rejected during scrutiny.

Also, out of the total 68 applications received for the Municipal Committee Bhogpur, one was rejected and from the 58 applications for the municipal committee Goraya, 12 were rejected.

In the Nagar Council Bilga, 64 nominations were received by December 6, out of which 13 were rejected, whereas no application had been rejected out of the total 65 nominations received for the Shahkot nagar council.

The spokesperson added that the date of the withdrawal of the candidature was December 8. The election for the Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar, municipal committees and nagar panchayats would be held on December 17 and results would be declared the same day.
