The rural police today arrested three persons who had allegedly looted a money exchanger at a village near Phillaur.

Gurvinder Ram, a resident of Nagar, stated that he was running a Western Union shop in the village. At around 8 pm on Wednesday, he was carrying a bag on his shoulder containing Rs 11,80,500 of Indian denomination, 1400 dirhams of Dubai, $ 653, two cheque books and a passbook and was shutting down the shutter of his shop.

Suddenly, three youths came on a black motorcycle to his shop. One out of the trio remained seated on the motorcycle, whereas the other two gave a push to him and threw him and snatched his bag and fled from the spot.

An FIR was lodged in this regard at the Phillaur police station. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar (Rural), said while a police party was conducting checking of vehicles and anti-social elements at the T-point in Nurewal Village, three riders on one motorcycle were spotted.

On seeing the police party, they tried to reverse the motorcycle, but their motorcycle slipped, resulting in their fall on the road. The trio was apprehended and identified as Amandeep, Manvinder Singh and Rajvir Singh.
