20-yr-old suspected swine flu patient dies

A 20-year-old resident of Bhargo Camp, a suspected swine flu patient, died in the city on Friday.

She is the third suspect of the disease in the city to have succumbed tothe flu.

Both previous deaths are also of patients suspected to be suffering from the ailment.

Charu, a student of BCom, was sick for the past about a week and has been confirmed to be a category B patient.

First taken to a local private hospital, Charu was shifted to the PGI, Chandigarh, from where she was shifted to another private hospital near Panchkula. However, she died on the way.

Meanwhile, as many as 10 persons have been tested positive for swine flu in the district so far.

Epidemiologist Shobhna said: “Charu was a category B patient. She is a swine flu suspect but not a confirmed case of swine flu. She died due to other complications.”

So far, samples of 19 people have been sent for testing from the district, of which 10 were tested positive and 10 were ruled as suspected swine flu patients (category B patients) according to the tests.
