After the withdrawal of the nomination papers for the byelection of Shahkot Assembly constituency, now there are 12 candidates in the fray.

Returning Officer Jagjit Singh said, “An Independent candidate Gurmit Singh had withdrawn his papers yesterday. The candidates in contest are : Hardev Singh of Indian National Congress, Naib Singh of Shiromani Akali Dal, Rattan Singh of Aam Aadmi Party, Satnam Singh of Bahujan Samaj Party (Ambedkar), Satpal Singh Rashtriya Janta congress, Sulakhan Singh of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) Simranjit singh Mann, Paramjot of Democratic Bhartiya Samaj Party, Kashmir Singh, Naib Singh, Manohar Lal, Malkeet Singh and Rajesh Kumar (Independents). The Election Commission allotted election symbols to the candidates.
