1 killed, 2 hurt as car hits tree

Sohan Lal, a resident of Ghurkan village (Fazilka), was killed and two persons were seriously injured when their car collided with a tree near Bassi Daulat Khan village on the Phagwara road.

The injured were identified as Jagmohan Singh, aka Nikka, a resident Bihala of village, and driver of the car Rajendra Kumar, son of Yamuna Das, a resident of Navi Bassi. Eye-witnesses reached the accident site and sent the injured to the Civil Hospital from where doctors referred Nikka to another hospital owing to his critical condition.

According to the information, the three had gone to the New Delhi airport to see off a saint from Navi Bassi village. Around 8 am, near Bassi Daulat Khan village, the car driver lost control over the vehicle, resulting in its collision with the tree. The body of Sohan Lal was sent to the Civil Hospital, Hoshiarpur, for postmortem.
