‘Waiving of GST on langar a right step’

PHAGWARA: Akali leader from Punjab Simranjeet Singh Maan has described the decision of Congress-led State Government for waiving the state government’s 50 per cent share in the goods and services tax (GST) on the community kitchen of religious places including Shri Darbar Sahib, Shri Durgiana Temple and Bhagwan Balmiki Tirth Asthaan as a right step.

Akali leader from Punjab Simranjeet Singh Maan has described the decision of Congress-led State Government for waiving the state government’s 50 per cent share in the goods and services tax (GST) on the community kitchen of religious places including Shri Darbar Sahib, Shri Durgiana Temple and Bhagwan Balmiki Tirth Asthaan as a right step. He urged the BJP led NDA Government to follow Punjab Government.

Adressing media at Phagwara on Sunday, while expressing deep concern on the mysterious deaths of 39 Indians in Iraq, Maan alleged that NDA Government kept the people in dark and Union Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj misled the people of the country.

He said Union Government must have known about deaths of Indians, as DNA tests of the killed Indians was crossed matched in the month of September last year.

Maan advocated more powers for the states. Earlier Maan met SAD (A) National Executive Member Jathedar Rajinder Singh Fauji, Bahujan Samaj Mukti Morcha District President Tirth Ram Nahar and discussed the dispute of two different religious places at Masat Nagar Hadiabad and said the dispute would be solved with amicably.
