Jalandhar, February 7

After the Education Department warned schools of strict action if any cheating case is found, schools in the district are vigilant.

While a majority of the cheating cases in the district are traditionally reported from open centres, the Education Department has ruled that action will be initiated against the principal as well as the superintendent of the centres if anyone is caught facilitating cheating this year.

Secretary of the Education Department Krishan Kumar, who is also the Chairman of the Punjab School Education Board, has instructed that no laxity shall be tolerated in conducting the Class X and XII exams. He said, “The initial tests of students shall be held in their respective schools. The examination shall be held outside those schools, the strength of which is less than 20 students.”

While reiterating his stand to take action against cheating, the Education Secretary said, “The affiliation of those schools will be cancelled by the Board when the matter of cheating will surface. FIRs will be lodged against the school head as well as the examination centre’s superintendent.”
