Udhampur, December 25

Residents of Dhanori village of Udhampur district are up in arms against the Public Works Department and have demanded immediate repair and blacktopping of the road leading to their village.

Hundreds of people today assembled at Dhanori under the leadership of Rakesh Sallan, sarpanch. They raised slogans in support of their demands.

Addressing the gathering, Sallan said residents of the area had already intimated the authorities about the dilapidated condition of the road to the department concerned and district administration, but in vain.

“Residents, especially schoolchildren, are facing hardships. Many accidents have taken place on the road due to its poor condition. We have requested the local MLA for blacktopping, but to no avail,” he claimed.

The protestors said if their demand was not fulfilled in a week time, they would block the road.
