Revenue records of two villages were gutted when the house these were kept in caught fire during a gunfight in Pulwama on May 12.

Firdous Ahmad, patwari of Karimabad revenue constituency, said the officials had set the patwar khana in the house of Abdul Rashid Ganie, where an encounter took place on May 12.

Firdous said revenue records of Wagam village dating back to 50 years and that of the newly created Chinar Bagh village were lost.

“It will take a lot of time to assemble the records, including patwari latha (cadastral map), girdawari, misli and other related material, of Wagam village from various sources in the Revenue Department while that for the new village will take about a month,” he said.

Pulwama tehsildar Reyaz Ahmad confirmed that the records were gutted but the place was not registered as a patwari khana. However, the services were being provided from this place for the last four years, he said. — OC
