Tramboo is mountain bike assn chief

Rauf Tramboo, a well-known adventure travel consultant, has been elected president of the Jammu and Kashmir Mountain Bike Association (JKMBA).

During the 4th annual general meeting of the association held here on Monday, Tramboo was elected new president, Bashir Damna senior vice-president, and Jamsheed Jeelani and Er Mushtaq Wani vice-presidents.

Tramboo said the association would take an initiative to open mountain biking clubs for youngsters and encourage people to use cycles.

He said the association would also launch an awareness campaign in schools and colleges on the importance of cycling.

Tramboo further said the association would take initiatives to develop mountain trails for mountain biking in the Zabarwan range of Srinagar and other forest areas of the Valley with the help of the forest department.

The association also discussed the activity calendar for 2019 and it was decided that it would organise Sunday rides as per routine. It was also decided that long distance monthly rides would be organised in different districts to engage more riders as part of the awareness campaign.
