Traders for partial shutdown in markets

Srinagar: Several  traders’ bodies and civil society have called for a shutdown from  3.30 pm onwards on Friday at several marketplaces of the city and also announced to stage a joint protest at Lal Chowk. “We will stage a protest after the Friday prayers at Lal Chowk against the harassment of students and businessmen outside the Valley,” a statement issued after a joint meeting of several traders’ bodies. It said the shutdown would be observed at Lal Chowk and all adjoining areas, including Hari Singh High Street, Poloview Road, Sarai Bala, Koker Bazaar, Court Road, Maisuma, Abiguzar, Red Cross Road and Gawkadal.
