Tiger Division honours war veterans

JAMMU: To acknowledge and honour the selfless devotion and sacrifice by the veterans, Armed Forces Veterans’ Day was celebrated at the Tiger Division in Jammu on Monday.

To acknowledge and honour the selfless devotion and sacrifice by the veterans, Armed Forces Veterans’ Day was celebrated at the Tiger Division in Jammu on Monday.

The day is also dedicated to the indomitable spirit of the personnel who served the armed forces with pride and honour.

The day is celebrated as a mark of respect and recognition of the services by Field Marshal KM Cariappa, the first Commander of the Indian Armed Forces, who retired from service on January 14, 1953.

The celebration at the Tiger Division was attended by Lt Gen Magotra, Lt Gen Rakesh Sharma and Maj Gen Jamwal and war veterans from the Army.

Interacting with the veterans, the General Officer Commanding, Tiger Division, acknowledged and praised their contributions for having served the nation in their prime and still serving in various capacities.

The veterans applauded the facilities provided to them. They also lauded the efforts of the Army to reach out to them in far-flung and borders areas.
