Technical snag hits Radio Kashmir transmission

SRINAGAR: The MW (medium wave) services of Radio Kashmir, Srinagar, went off air due to a technical fault at its transmission centre located at Narabal on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday morning.

The MW (medium wave) services of Radio Kashmir, Srinagar, went off air due to a technical fault at its transmission centre located at Narabal on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday morning.

However, the programmes continued uninterrupted on the FM and mobile app. The MW services got disrupted at 11.36 am. The technical staff was engaged in identifying the snag and immediate restoration of services. The restoration work would take some more time, sources said.

This is for the first time that the transmission services of MW have been disrupted for such a long duration. It was off air for five hours due to a technical fault in 2016. The transmission services were snapped for only one night in September 2014 floods.
