SRINAGAR: In an exemplary show of honesty, a police driver returned a bag containing Rs 90,000 to a person who had retired recently.

In an exemplary show of honesty, a police driver returned a bag containing Rs 90,000 to a person who had retired recently.

Special Police Officer (SPO) Umar Mushtaq found a bag containing Rs 90,000 during checking at Qamerwari.

“Subsequently, he informed his duty officer who in turn conveyed it to the in-charge of Qamerwarim police post,” a police spokesman said.

Meanwhile, a person Abdul Aziz Malla of New Colony, Palpora, came to the police post for reporting the loss of a bag containing cash.

“After proper verification, the amount was handed over to him. The person has recently retired from the Srinagar Municipal Corporation and this was his pension amount. The person expressed his gratitude to the policeman for the act of honesty,” the spokesman said. — TNS
