The visitors to the civil secretariat will soon find all Class IV employees dressed in a uniform as the state government has formed a panel to finalise the criteria for the same.

According to a government order, a five-member committee has been constituted for the purpose. The Director Codes will be the chairman of the committee while the Director Finance, General Administration Department; Joint Director, Resource, Finance Department; J&K Civil Secretariat Non-Gazetted Employees Union President; and J&K Lower Grade Employees Union president will be the members of the panel.

The committee has been entrusted with the task of defining the criteria for the entitlement of uniform to Class IV employees of the civil secretariat, selection of uniform for summer/winter seasons based on market survey and ascertaining the reasonability of rates and work out financial implications based on cost estimates and number of employees entitled to disbursement of uniform.

If sources are to be believed, there is a sanctioned strength of 369 Class IV posts, including daftari, jamadar-I, jamadar-II and orderlies at the civil secretariat.
