Soldier injured in truce violation at Poonch

The Pakistan army on Sunday resorted to heavy firing and mortar shelling in the Khari Karmara area in the Digwar sector of Poonch, which was strongly retaliated by the Army. On Saturday, the Pakistan troops resorted to unprovoked firing on forward posts in the Kirni sector of Poonch, injuring a soldier.

Lance Naik AGK Babu Rao received splinter injuries and was taken to Army Hospital, Poonch. He is out of danger.

Meanwhile, soldiers of a Gorkha unit on Sunday apprehended a 13-year-old boy from PoK when he was trying to cross the Line of Control in the district. He has been identified as Mohd Zaid. After preliminary questioning, he was handed over to the police for further investigation.

“The boy is not responding to the queries and seems to be mentally unsound. It will take some time for us to decide whether he should be booked or repatriated,” said the sub-divisional police officer, Mendhar.
