The All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) on Wednesday expressed resentment over the silence maintained by the Hurriyat leadership over the recent killing of a Sikh youth, Simranjeet Singh, of Tral village in Pulwama district.

“A youth of the minority community was killed in Tral, but it is unfortunate that the pro-freedom had so far maintained silence over it…. Though the United Jihad Council has said the youth was killed by agencies, they must use sources to identify those involved in the killing,” APSCC chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said in a statement. “There is anger among the minority community here over the silence maintained by the pro-freedom camp over the killing. In case such acts continue then the agencies who are working to divide the minority community en masse will succeed,” he added.

An APSCC delegation also visited the residence of the slain youth, where they expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.

Raina further said during the condolence meet at Tral, all those sarpanches and panches, who emerged winners in the recently held panchayat elections, decided to ‘resign en masse’.
