The Sikh United Front J&K has welcomed the verdict in the Kathua rape and murder of eight-year-old nomadic girl last year.

Addressing a press conference, Sudarshan Singh Wazir, chairman, Sikh United Front J&K, said the verdict was a big blow to those who were bent on politicising the heinous crime.

He also condemned unequivocally the brutal murder of a child in Meerut recently and demanded day-to-day trial and death penalty for those who committed the gruesome act.

Wazir also lauded the role of state Crime Branch for conducting investigation in highly professional manner in the Kathua rape and murder case.

He called upon the state government to strictly implement the amendment in Ranbir Penal Code by incorporating Section 376-A and 376-B whereby any offence under this section against a child below 12 years of age will make the culprit to face the death penalty, especially in case of rape and sexual abuse of a child below 12 years.
