An operation is underway to trace the militants who may have sneaked into the Kashmir valley. Reinforcements have been rushed to the area, he added.

With winter approaching, there has been a rise in the number of infiltration attempts this month as heavy snowfall cuts off Valley routes. Keran sector is a key infiltration route for the militants from across the border.

The fresh infiltration attempt in the sector comes a day after three militants and a soldier were killed in two gunfights in the frontier district.
