Tanvir Ahmed, a suspect in the school bomb blast case who escaped the police custody on Thursday, was arrested from the Bhalla area of Bhaderwah on Sunday.

After his escape, his family alleged in media that he had been killed by the police.

Shabir Ahmed Malik, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Doda, said, “We arrested the suspect in the school bomb blast case from the Nai-Danga area of Bhalla on Sunday night.”

“Due to intense pressure from all quarters, Tanvir surrendered and the allegations levelled by his family against the police were proved baseless. The incident had happened before I joined here as the SSP, but I personally met him and there were no injury or torture marks on his body,” the officer said. “We are going to take him for medical examination before producing him before the magistrate for remand,” he said. “We have arrested four suspects but our investigation is still in the early stages and the report of the forensic report is pending,” he said. — OC
