Safety norms flouted

Unregistered tractor-trailers have become a major threat for people in the city. Most of them are plying without registration number plates or any safety norms. As per the Motor Vehicles Act, tractors can be used for agricultural purposes only. However, a number of these vehicles are being used for commercial purposes instead. Need to streamline their movement on city roads.

Conversion of farm land

The conversion of agricultural land for commercial purpose is going on in Jammu. There is no stopping of the practice, which is destroying fertile land. The administration needs to take steps to prevent large-scale conversion of land, especially in basmati-growing areas of Jammu. The district administration, Agriculture and Revenue Departments should have better coordination.
